Pune FC vs Blackburn Rovers FC

Pune FC has lost its historic match against EPL side Blackburn Rovers FC at the Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex today. The visiting English team recorded a 3-0 win against their I-League opponents.

Derrick Pereira’s team suffered an early setback as Anas Edathodika was sent off in the 15th minute after collecting his second yellow card.

Blackburn took the lead in the 35th minute, when Jason Roberts coverted a great through ball to the PFC box and put it easily past keeper Shahinlal Meloly to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Steve Kean’s team were in full control of the match and took advantage of their dominance in the 53rd minute. Spaniard Ruben Rochina hammered the ball into the PFC goal with a great left-footed shot past a chanceless Meloly.

Pune FC relied a lot on counter-attacks, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Shots by Jeje Lalpekhlua, Gurjinder Kumar and Lester Mark Fernandez were easily snatched down or saved by Rovers keeper Mark Bunn.

Jason Roberts scored his second goal of the night to make it 3-0 for Blackburn in the 76th minute. Roberts received the ball in the box, went past his marker and slotted it home with a left-footed shot.
