The Indian national football team is well prepared to take on Zambia in an international FIFA friendly match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Tuesday.

Savio Medeira and his team will face the African visitors in their final test ahead of the SAFF Championship 2011, which is scheduled to kick-off on December 2, 2011.

The Indian team will miss the services of strikers Sunil Chhetri and Jeje Lalpekhlua, who are currently having trials with Scottish giants Rangers FC. Both players are expected to rejoin the Indian team just in time for the first SAFF Championship match against Afghanistan on December 3.

“It’s true the duo has brought us laurels in the recent past. But this is a great opportunity for the others to prove themselves”, India coach Savio Medeira told.

The Indian team is looking forward to take on their higher ranked opponents from Africa.

“If we play as a unit – the manner we played against Malaysia, we should pose a challenge for Zambia,” striker Baljit Singh Sahni told.

“We hope to bank on the crowd support. We will give our 100%,” he added.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 15.45 IST (11.15 CET / 10.15 GMT) and DD Sports will be broadcasting the match LIVE from Goa.
