AFC Challenge Cup 2012 – Coaches at Press Conference

The coaches of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 faced the media in a pre-tournament press conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Kathmandu-Soaltee today.

India coach Savio Medeira is looking forward to the tournament and he is fully aware of the tough group India has been drawn to.

“Every team wants to win the championship and we are no exception. We have best teams in the group,” Savio told at the press conference.

“The Philippines have improved a lot,” the Indian coach continued. “But I think DPR Korea will come out to the second round easily.”

Talking about the Indian team, Savio said: “We had a good preparation in Dubai for the championship though we lost the matches.”

“The boys’ morale is high and they are confident of doing good. I am confident that we will show up a good show here in Kathmandu,” Savio added.

Savio’s Korean counterpart Yun Jong-Su is expecting a lot from his team after a disappointing AFC Challenge Cup campaign in 2008.

“We don’t want to go back what happened in 2008 AFC challenge cup. Four years have been passed and We are here to play good football,” Jong-Su told.

Michael Weiss, the German coach of the Philippines team, stated: “I have to tell you that our preparation was not good. But we are here to play the championship and we will do well.”

“We are not taking any teams lightly. We will respect all,” Tajikistan’s coach Kemal Alispahić told. “We will respect the Indian team and the other teams.”
