I-League: Prayag Utd trashes Shillong Lajong

Prayag United SC vs Shillong Lajong FC

Prayag United scored a convincing 5-3 win against Shillong Lajong FC in a Round 25 encounter of the I-League today. Brazilian striker Josimar helped the Kolkata side with a hat-trick.

Shillong Lajong FC started off the match with a bang, when Sushil Kumar Singh slotted home a corner by Renedy Singh in the 7th minute and gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in front of a franatic crowd.

Shylo Malswam Tulunga equalized the scoreline in the 12th minute, but the joy for the visitors lasted only for three minutes. Eugenson Lyngdoh put the home side once again in the lead off a Renedy cross and it seemed like SLFC could be on the winning streak.

The visitors found their way back to the game and Denson Devadas levelled the score in the 28th minute, before Josimar scored Prayag’s third goal in the 32nd minute to give his team a 3-2 lead at half-time.

The Brazilian increased the lead nine minutes into the second half and turned the match completly in Prayag’s favour.

SLFC fans had a glimpse of hope in the 77th minute, when Matthew Osvaldo Mayora pulled one back for the hosts. But “Man of the Match” Josimar sealed the fate of SLFC only one minute later.
