Olympique Lyonnais retain UEFA Women's CL title

Olympique Lyonnais retained the UEFA Women’s Champions League title with a 2-0 win against 1. FFC Frankfurt on Thursday. Eugénie Le Sommer and Camille Abily scored for the French side in front of a record 50,212 crowd at Munich’s Olympiastadion.

Lyonnais took the lead through a Eugénie Le Sommer penalty in the 15th minute. Frankfurt had a miserable day and they had no proper response to the French dominance.

Frankfurt keeper Desirée Schumann denied the French team on various occassions and kept her side in the game.

But it was just a matter of time that Lyonnais doubled their lead. And it happended in the 28th minute! Camille Abily volleyed a clearance by Schumann over the keeper’s head and into the Frankfurt goal.

Lyon dominated possession and the chance count till the final whistle.

UEFA President Michel Platini handed over the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy to the French side and the celebratios kicked-off in the German city.
