EURO 2012: Narsingh named in final Netherlands squad

Narsingh named in final Netherlands squad

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has named his final 23-member squad for the UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine. Indian origin winger Luciano Narsingh is one of the players named by the Bondscoach.

Van Marwijk decided to drop Vurnon Anita, Siem de Jong, Jeremain Lens and Adam Maher from the provisional 27-member squad, when he announced his final squad on Saturday.

Luciano Narsingh made his debut for the Dutch team in a friendly match against German giants FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday and the SC Heerenveen player is yet to earn his first senior international cap. The 21-year-old PIO scored one of the Dutch goals in the 2-3 loss against the German club at the Allianz Arena.

Narsingh will be the second Surinamese player of Indian origin to represent the Netherlands in a major competition after Aron Winter. Winter was a member of the Dutch national team, which won the UEFA EURO 1988 in Germany.
