Manchester City FC hosts Indian delegation at the Etihad Stadium

English Premier League club Manchester City FC hosted a 25-member strong Indian delegation at the sidelines of the Soccerex European Forum at Manchester on Wednesday.

The Indian delegation comprising various stakeholders of Indian football were brought to Manchester by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in partnership with Libero Sports India.

City legend Mike Summerbee welcomed the Indian delegation at the Etihad Stadium, while the club’s senior manager Tom Glick and Omar Barreda joined the visitors for a presentation on MCFC and to give an insight on their plans for India. The presentation featured various figures on the club, the EPL and a comparison to other European clubs/leagues.

The presentation was followed by a special private tour of the Etihad Stadium, which gave the visitors an idea on the stadium and the facilities at the venue.

The Indian delegation comprised the likes of Kunal Dua (Head of Sports Marketing, Panasonic India), Shirish Deepak Kulkarni (Director, DSK Shivajians FC), Aswin Dev (SEPT Kerala), Arunava Chaudhuri (Consultat & Journalist), myself and various others.

The visit to Manchester City FC and the Etihad Stadium was an interesting one to get an in-depth idea on the club, the facilities and their plans for India – especially in comparison to other leagues like the Bundesliga as I told “Arunava about Football” a few days ago.
