AIFF Regional Academy Navi Mumbai

The Indian U-14 national team has lost its AFC U-14 Championship Group D qualifying match against arch rivals Pakistan in front of 100 fans on Sunday.

Head coach Narayana Menon’s team started their qualifying campaign with a 1-3 loss against hosts Iran and a 4-1 win against Kyrgyzstan. The Indian youngsters needed a win to keep their hopes alive to earn a direct qualification to the AFC U-14 Championship finals.

Muhammad Akhlas scored an early goal in the 9th minute to hand the Indian team a tough task for the remainder of the match. Pakistan sealed their win moments before the half-time whistle, when Majeed Khan put the ball past India U-14 keeper Dheeraj Moirangthem Singh.

India will face Turkmenistan in their final Group D match tomorrow.
