Churchill Brothers beat Laxmi Prasad in the Goa Pro League

Goa Pro League: Churchill v Laxmi Prasad

In a thrilling 8th Round encounter of the Goa Pro League held at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Churchill Borthers SC got the better off Laxmi Prasad, winning the pulsating tie 3-2.

Richard Costa, Jasion Vales and Hugo Machado were on the score-sheet for the “Red Machines” while Steven Fernandes and Alvito Miranda reduced the margin for Laxmi Prasad.

Churchill head coach Mariano Dias and Technical Director Sukhwinder Singh decided to start with Bineesh Balan and Jasion Vales upfront while captain Ravanan partnered Micky Fernandes in the defense.

Alesh Sawant and Bineesh Balan wasted good chances in the opening 15 minutes, missing the target by a few inches.

Steven Fernandes got the opener for Laxmi Prasad after getting at the end of a cross by Alvito Miranda.

Churchill Brothers came all out in the second half.

Richard Costa levelled the scores in the 57th minute, smashing a grounder past the Laxmi Prasad goalkeeper from a Hugo Machdo corner.

Jasion Vales put the Red Machines in the lead after shrugging of his marker and smashing the ball past the on rushing goalkeeper.

Laxmi Prasad then levelled the score, Steven’s powerful shot came off the post, Alvito Miranda was in the right place to place the ball into an open net in the 80th minute.

Hugo Machado capped his man of the match performance with a brilliantly placed freekick five minutes from time.

With the win The Red Machines move to the top of the table again with 20 points from 8 matches.
