Germany coach Joachim Löw has announced a 22-member squad for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

Bayern Munich stars Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze return to the Germany squad after missing out the last matches due to injuries. Schweinsteiger would earn his 100th cap for the “Mannschaft” against Sweden, if he fielded by Löw in both matches.

The German team will have four foreign-based players in the squad in Mesut Özil, Per Mertesacker (both Arsenal FC), André Schürrle (Chelsea FC) and Sami Khedira (Real Madrid CF).

Mario Gomez (ACF Fiorentina), Miroslav Klose (S.S. Lazio), Marcel Schmelzer, Ilkay Gündogan (both Borussia Dortmund) and Lukas Podolski (Arsenal FC) habe been ruled out due to injuries.

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Max Kruse will be the only striker in the absence of Gomez and Klose, while Bayer 04 Leverkusen star Stefan Kießling has been once again ignored by Löw.
