Shillong Lajong FC has announced a first of its kind tie-up with the Mass Media Department of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, for the 2013-14 I-League season.

The tie up is yet another flagship program of the club, wherein the students of the College will be given an opportunity of a lifetime to work hand in hand with the club and will get a nation-wide platform and exposure to showcase and display their creativity and talent.

The premier educational institute, one of the region’s leading colleges, has provided its students with an incisive educational edge with the tie-up and the move has been seen as a truly wonderful initiative by Shillong Lajong FC. The tie up will also be an added advantage to the students, some of who may want to pursue a career in the sports industry, more so with the ever-increasing important role that the media is playing in Indian football.

Commenting on the tie-up Dr. Cherry Kharshiing, the HOD of the Mass Media Department of St. Anthony’s College, said: “On behalf of St. Anthony’s College and the Mass Media Department I take this opportunity to place on record this historic tie up. We are glad that this opportunity has come our way where our students can further sharpen their sports journalism skills, an area which is often given a backseat in journalism. With this internship programme we hope that we will be able to raise up sports journalists of quality and responsibility who will be able to make a difference to sports journalism in Meghalaya. We wish Shillong Lajong the very best in this season of the I-League!”

The tie up between two of the North-Eastern premier entities in their own right will certainly be an impetus for the student community of the region, with the prospect of being closely associated with their favourite Lajong stars.
