Indian Women's national team

The Indian Women’s national team has moved up a spot in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on December 13.

India is now ranked 49th in the world and 11th in Asia. Coach Anadi Barua’s team is ranked better than teams like 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup participant Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Croatia or Turkey to name just a few countries.

The Indian team has 1431 points on its account, while 48th placed Ghana have 1459 points. The USA (2228 points) remain top of the FIFA Women’s World Ranking, while Germany (2nd), Japan (3rd) and Brazil (4th) also managed to keep their position.

France moved back into the top five and Israel (55th, up 6) made the biggest move by ranks. Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu are the teams that are no longer ranked in the FIFA Women’s World Ranking due to their inactivity for a long time.

The next FIFA Women’s World Ranking will be released on March 28, 2014.
