The sixth All India Football Federation (AIFF) Grassroots Course of the year 2014 concluded in the Nilgiris District in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

This is the first of the two Grassroots Courses planned for this month in Tamil Nadu. AIFF Grassroots Instructor Arindam Biswas was the Instructor for the course and Anjana Turambekar, AIFF Assistant Development Manager (Grassroots Football) also attended the course as the AIFF observer.

A total of 27 participants attended the Course which was organized by the Nilgiris District Football Association and the Tamil Nadu Football Association in conjunction with V2V Media and Grassroots Sports Development Board.

The coaches are all current Grassroots football coaches and are involved in coaching kids between 6-12 year of age. The Course aims to equip the coaches with the know-how in organizing, implementing Grassroots Football.

The course ended with a Grassroots festival which was organized by the participants themselves with the guidance of the course Instructor.

The AIFF Grassroots programme is designed to provide more and more playing opportunities for kids between 6-12 years of age and though driven primarily through State Associations, it includes all stakeholders in the game such as schools, clubs, NGOs and Community initiatives etc.

The second of the two courses in Tamil Nadu is set to begin from May 6 to 8 in Coimbatore district.

This year the month of May is being celebrated by the AIFF as the “Month of Grassroots Football” in line with celebrations for the AFC Grassroots Day 15th of May 2015 which includes many activities such as AIFF Grassroots courses and festivals planned for the entire month all across the country in conjunction with the State Football Associations and Grassroots football leaders.”
