India 2-2 Bangladesh

The Indian national team has climbed three spots in the latest FIFA World Ranking, while 2014 FIFA World Cup winners Germany lead the table for the first time in around 20 years.

India is now ranked a joint 151st in the world (27th in Asia) along with Malaysia. Both teams have 144 points to their tally, which secures them a spot just behind DPR Korea and ahead of Indonesia (153rd), Singapore (154th) and Thailand (155th).

Afghanistan (129th) remains the best team from the South Asian (SAFF) region, ahead the Maldives (145th), India, Bangladesh (163rd), Nepal (164th), Pakistan (165th), Sri Lanka (178th) and Bhutan (208th).

Germany top the FIFA World Ranking with 1724 points ahead of World Cup runners-up Argentina and the Netherlands. Colombia (4th), Belgium (5th), Uruguay (6th), Brazil (7th), Spain (8th), Switzerland (9th) and France (10th) complete the Top 10.

World Cup surprise Costa Rica is ranked 16th, which means the highest-ever ranking for the “Ticos”. Portugal (11th), Italy (14th) and England (20th) have all lost their top rankings due to their poor performances at the finals in Brazil.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be released on August 14.
