India U-23 national team goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has experienced his first Tippeligaen match on the bench, when he travelled with his club Stabæk to the away match against Strømsgodset on Saturday.

Gurpreet joined the Norwegian 1st Division side last week and he made his debut for their Reserves’ Team in a 3rd Division match against Egersunds IK on Monday. The young Indian keeper kept a clean sheet in Stabæk Reserves’ 2-0 win and his performance has earned him a debut call-up to the first team.

Gurpreet remained on the bench as a reserve keeper to Ivory Coast’s 2014 FIFA World Cup custodian Sayouba Mandé as Stabæk as Stabæk won the match 3-2.

Magne Hoseth (15′) put the visitors in the lead, while Fredrik Brustad (29′) and Ville Jalasto (55′) further increased the lead to give Stabæk a comfortable 3-0 lead. Strømsgodset reduced the margin through Lars-Christopher Vilsvik (71′) and Marvin Ogunjimi (76′).
