A fantastic atmosphere in store as Sporting Clube de Goa get set to do battle with Calangute Association in a Round 4 match of GFA’s Goa Pro League, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday. The kick off time is 16.00 IST.

Both teams are still in search of their first win in the league, which raises the stakes even higher and makes the game that much more exciting for the fans.

Sporting Goa has drawn with Salgaocar and Dempo, while they suffered a minor hiccup losing to Sesa, to leave them with 2 points from four games.

Calangute on the other hand managed to draw with Churchill Brothers in their opening game, before losing to league leaders Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim and Vasco Sports Club and have only a point to show for their hard work.

The Sporting Goa Coach Oscar Bruzon believes that many young new players arrived in the transfer window and they needed time to gel.

“This year we have assembled a very talented squad and I am confident once the players click there will be no looking back and we will go on a long winning run,” remarked Oscar.

Calangute Coach Gavin Araujo is putting on a brave face and is equally optimistic on his team’s chances. “We should have had at least two wins by now, but we conceded very late goals on two occasions which cost us dearly. We have been working on that and my players are raring to go,” stated Gavin.

Sporting Clube de Goa could be boosted by their leading marksmen and the league’s top scorer of last season Boima Jerry Karpeh who returned to training this week.

Star midfielder Rowlin Borges has also begun training, after returning from national duty and could be the catalyst to fire up the Flaming Oranje.

Bardez trio Charles Cardoza, Jesmon Carvalho and Lesten Martins who left Sporting Goa in the summer will be in action for Calangute and will be eager to prove a point.
