Hero Indian Super League side FC Goa welcomed representatives of the media at a press meet in Mumbai today. The Goans presented their new franchise co-owner Virat Kohli, marquee player Robert Pirès and head coach Zico at the event.

“I’m so happy to be here. I received a great welcome yesterday. So thank you all very much,” Frenchman Robert Pirès stated during his presentation.

“India is a great country. The food’s spicy, but I can’t wait to see the country and play good football.”

“I’m still training with Arsenal. My passion is football and I can still play, so I decided to come back to the Hero ISL,” Pirès added.

Brazil legend and FC Goa head coach Zico also expressed his happiness to be part of the inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League, “I’m very grateful to FC Goa for making me a part of the Hero Indian Super League. I’ve had a great welcome here as well as in Goa.”

“This league will definitely grow and produce some great football and footballers.”

Meanwhile, FC Goa also announced Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has joined the franchise as one of the co-owners.

Speaking at the event, Virat Kohli said, “I’m very excited to be part of FC Goa. Can’t wait to see the players together on the field.”

“Some might say that I’m a bit young to take this on, but I love football and really want to see it grow in India.”

“The good thing about the Hero ISL is that it will give a chance to young Indian players to play with international greats,” the star cricketer concluded.
