NorthEast United FC launched their jersey for the inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League 2014 amongst much fanfare with the honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, present on the occasion.

Every facet of the jersey has been meticulously worked upon to bring out the culture and the unity amongst the eight states that have come together to become the NorthEast United FC. Moreover, it was a strategic management decision to bring on board local talent that is par excellence, Rupam Borah from Virus Designs, to help build the NEU FC marketing initiative as a whole. This was done to ensure that the passion and the vision the management had, is brought to light by someone whose roots are in the North East region. The logo itself has been symbolically designed. The colours red, black and white are synonymous with the North Eastern culture at large. Also, the presence of eight stars on the jersey signify the importance of each state and the contribution they have made to popularizing football.

John Abraham, owner of NEU FC, seemed very emotional as his commitment to the team goes beyond the sport. He stated, “A team jersey is always something special to look forward to and I know that all our fans have been waiting to get their eyes on it. This jersey will become our identity on the pitch. I hope our team wears this jersey with the same amount of pride that I wear mine with today. I am humbled by the presence of our honorable Chief Minister and I am ever so grateful to the Government of Assam for their unconditional support. This team has been built on unity, passion and the zeal to succeed and I am very confident that NEU FC will make us all proud.”

We are excited to unveil the team kit today, which is inspired by the unity of the eight states, coming together as one team. Sporting eight stars over the red, black and white, the home jerseys will be available to NEU FC fans in a few weeks.”  Along with the launch their kit, the NEU FC also released their rock anthem and announced online ticket sales on bookmyshow.com. With all their ammunition in place the NorthEast United FC team stand tall and wear their jersey with pride, as they prepare themselves for the first season of the Hero ISL.
