FC Pune City took on FC Goa in their first Hero Indian Super League (ISL) home game at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium on Sunday.

The home side opened the score sheet in th 42nd minute when Greek World Cupper Kostas Katsouranis fired home a great shot from the right side into the FC Goa goal past goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani.

Brazilian André Santos had the best chance to equalise for FC Goa, but his shot hit the crossbar before going wide. Bruno Pinheiro tested Pune City goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi with a shot, while Narayan Das failed to take advantage of the rebound.

French star David Trezeguet scored the hosts’ second goal to the delight of the home crowd. Trezeguet was quick to react on an error by Grégory Arnolin and the striker hit the target with a fine strike.

FC Pune City didn’t give away their 2-0 lead to secure three points from their first game at home.
