Chennaiyin FC assistant coach Vivek Nagul and midfielder Harmanjot Singh Khabra faced the media ahead of their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) match against Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Tuesday.

Vivek Nagul has made clear that his team is looking forward to come back strongly after their 1-4 defeat against Delhi Dynamos FC in their last game. “It was a bad day for us against Delhi but the morale in the squad is positive. They are determined to bounce back and get the three points tomorrow.

“It was a bad day for us against Delhi but the morale in the squad is positive. They are determined to bounce back and get the three points tomorrow,” Nagul told.

“We didn’t start well and it is always difficult to fight back after conceding away from home. But we never gave up and nearly got back into the game at 2-1. Tomorrow will be a new day and we are confident of responding,” midfielder Harmanjot Singh Khabra added.

“We follow a well-planned program after matches. Diet, gym sessions are all part of the program and the players will be ready again to take on Mumbai,” Nagul continued.

“The coaches and support staff work really hard to get us in shape. It’s not easy playing every three days but we are given the best facilities to recover on time,” Harmanjot expressed.

Mumbai City FC are expected to field Nicolas Anelka for the very first time in the match, but the Chennaiyin FC coaching staff does not plan to have any special tactics to stop the former French international. “We won’t have any particular strategy for Anelka. We have players to do a job for us both with and without the ball. We have the quality to stop Anelka also when he is in possession,” Nagul told.

Talking about Brazilian star Elano, the assistant coach told, “Elano’s performances have been very positive for us but we are not overdependent on him. We are a team with quality on all departments. Hopefully other players will also get on the scoresheet tomorrow.”

“I wasn’t happy with my performance against Delhi especially as I gave away the penalty but I know there is no point thinking too much about one mistake. Even the other seniors in the team advised me to move on and prepare for the next game,” Harmanjot stated on his own performance.

Chennaiyin FC are currently placed 3rd in the Hero Indian Super League, while Mumbai City FC aim to climb up the ladder from the 6th place.
