Mumbai City FC head coach Peter Reid expects a tough encounter as his team face Kerala Blasters FC in an away game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi today.

“To be fair, in the previous game in Mumbai, it was a great free kick that won it,” Reid told during the pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “It was a fairly close game.”

“We know it will be difficult even with the results we have had lately. I know David (James), Trevor (Morgan) and some of the players really well, and I know that they are strong, well organized and I think that tomorrow’s game is going to be difficult.”

Asked about the Hero Indian Super League season so far and his predicition for the game, the Englishman said, “If you’re at the bottom of the league and you have two wins, all of a sudden you’re in the top half of the table, and that just tells you how difficult it is going to be for us tomorrow evening. I was impressed with them in Mumbai so I know that it is going to be hard.”

Talking about his own team and the poor finishing, the former England international stated, “It concerns me because we are creating chances but we are not putting them away.”

“With the games coming up think and fast, we are working on that aspect this evening in training and we will continue to work on it.”

“At the last game I mentioned that due to the climate, the first half is usually played in a frantic manner, and then in the second half the game begins to open up. What disappointed me was when André Moritz went off in the previous game, because I felt that when games get stretched, he has the quality to exploit that.”

“André said to me that it (his hamstring) was tight and I am really wary about soft tissue injuries, so I pulled him off. It is a lot better than what it was, but if he not feeling 100%, I will not risk him, because with the nature of these injuries, if we’re not cautious, he can be out for the rest of the tournament.”
