Punjab FA well prepared to host Santosh Trophy North Zone Qualifiers

The Punjab Football Association (PFA) under the leadership of its president Samir Thapar, who is also an avid sports lover and Chairman & Managing Director of JCT Limited, is going to hold the North Zone Qualifiers for the 69th National Football Championships for the Santosh Trophy at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Jalandhar from January 10 to 15, 2015.

A total of eight state teams from Northern India namely Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi will take part in the North Zone Qualifiers.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on January 10 at 11.00 IST onwards at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Jalandhar which will be followed by the opening match between Punjab and Chandigarh. The second match of the day will see Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in action.

Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal, IAS, Director Sports Punjab, Sports Department – Punjab Government, Chandigarh, will grace the occasion with his presence as Chief Guest and he will perform the opening of the qualifiers. Priya Thapar, Director, JCT Limited, will preside over the function by unfurling the Flag of the Punjab Football Association and the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Nivia Shining Star Football will be the official ball for the 69th Santosh Trophy 2015.

Deepak Kumar, former Indian international footballer and General Secretary of the Punjab Football Association, stated that the PFA would make every endeavour to make the competition a grand success. He further disclosed that the PFA will be hostig the National Football Championships in close association with JCT Limited as the JCT management has been kind enough to support the endeavours in holding the competition.
