Aman Govekar netted a superb hat-trick as Sporting Clube de Goa eased their way past Churchill Brothers SC 4-1 in a GFA U-14 League encounter at the DSYA Ground, Seraulim, on Friday. Sporting Goa led 3-0 at the breather.

Sporting Goa came close to opening the scoring right from the kick off when Aman shot onto the post and from the rebounder Ashley Noronha’s header flew back off the cross bar. Churchill breathed a sigh of relief, but it was a sign of things to come.

Aman confidently gave Sporting Goa the lead within the first five minutes when he drove the ball low into the corner from team mate Shanon Viegas’ cross.

Within seven minutes, Aman netted his second of the game after latching on to a pass from Nikhil Correira, before stroking the ball home.

Just before the interval, the Flaming Oranje continued to expose the defensive naivety off their opponents when Aman’s cross along the danger area was guided in by Omkar Parwar.

Two minutes after the restart, Sporting Goa were rampant as Shanon showed some creative fluidity in the box with a neat turn to lay the ball on a platter for Aman to steal in and grab his hat-trick.

The young Churchill Brothers players showed real heart and determination to push forward at every opportunity despite the early setbacks. They were rewarded for their efforts when Joan Rodrigues slotted in after the Sporting Goa goalkeeper failed to gather a high looping free kick.
