India remain 171st in latest FIFA World Ranking

The Indian national team remains a joint 17st in the world (35th in Asia) according to the latest FIFA World Ranking released today.

India is ranked behind nations such as Swaziland, Gambia and Montserrat, while neighbours Pakistan moved up to be ranked a joint 171st with the Indian team.

Maldives (135th) are now the best team from the South Asian (SAFF) region, ahead of Afghanistan (144th), Bangladesh (157th), India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka (173rd), Nepal (180th) and Bhutan (209th).

There were no changes in the Top 5 of the FIFA World Ranking which see World Champions Germany keeping their spot at the top.

2015 AFC Asian Cup winners Australia moved up 37 spots to claim the 63rd position in the rankings, while 2015 CAF Africa Cup of Nations champions Côte d’Ivoire are now ranked 20th (up 8 spots).
