Sunfeast Roots Football League - Round 4

Four rounds into the Sunfeast Roots Football League, and the fight to the summit gets more intense with every passing week in Bangalore. With the last round of league matches next week to decide the playoff positions in the U-11, U-13 and U-15 categories, the competition is getting intense with most games going right down to the wire. The teams meet for the play-offs in the last week of the tournament on February 28. The U-7 and U-9 category teams are playing the return leg of their league to decide the champions.

In the U-7 category Unitus Capital Cheetahs and Sharks are still neck to neck with 10 points each. Sehajvir Arora of Greenwood High school scored a double hat-trick (six goals) in the match against Orchestrate Eagles to keep his team on top.

The U-9 category a draw with the Sharks enabled Unitus Capital Cheetahs to go level on seven points with Orchestrate Eagles who failed to consolidate their lead suffering a defeat to the Lions on their return leg of the league.

In the U-11 category the Sharks assured themselves of a berth in the playoff for first place with their fourth consecutive win in as many matches to stay on top of the table with twelve points. Unitus Capital Cheetahs who could only manage a draw against Orchestrate Eagles are at the second spot with eight points, with the Bisons closely
behind in the fight for the playoff spot.

In the U-13 category, in a closely fought match the Lions edged past the Sharks in their match to lead the table with ten points while the Sharks fell back to second place, still on seven points. Gokul Joshua of Sharks (The Eastwood High School) brace wasnt enough to stop the Lions. The final round of league match next week will decide the second play off spot with all the other four teams tied on four points, still with a chance of making it to the top two.

In the U-15 category the Rhinos (ten points) and Bisons (eight points) won their respective matches to hold on to their positions on the table. Fuzail Nayeer of Vidya Niketan High School scored a hat-trick to help his team win over the Lions. Orchestrate Eagle’s (seven points) also recorded a comprehensive win over Unitus Capital Cheetahs to stay in contention for the top two play off berths.
