Mumbai Rush Soccer Champions League 1 - Week 1

In an exciting first weekend of competitive football, the Mumbai Rush Soccer Champions League 1 tournament – sponsored by Al Kabeer – saw some fantastic football on show across four age groups namely U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-17.

All teams decked up in tournament kit, it seemed that fortune was shining on Red’s at St. Pius Sports Ground, Goregaon, as all the red teams across the age groups registered 100% records, with 8 wins, 31 goals scored, and just 1 goal conceded by the four teams in red.

From the U-10 Navy Blue team, New Zealander Hugo King became the age-group top-scorer as he registered four goals on the day, including a hat-trick as the Navy Blue side won 4-0 against the Orange team. The King family also celebrated as elder brother Louis from team Orange became the joint top-scorer with MRS star player Sujal from Royal Blue, in the U-12 category, both players registering three goals on the day.

The U-14 division couldn’t separate the top four scorers; Harshvardhan Sharma from Team Red, Cornelius Rodrigues and Ashutosh Sawant from Team Orange, Devashish Sawant from Team Royal Blue, all scored two goals in some exciting, high quality football matches.

Finally in the U-17 category, there was a three-way tie for top scorer with Prathamesh Koli and Amit Lal from Team Red and Ranson Patel from team Green all registering hat-tricks.

The players were treated to Al Kabeer’s excellent refreshment hospitality.

Rush coaches also selected their pick of the best players to form the ‘CL1 Team of the Week’ which can be viewed at www.mumbairushsoccer.com/index.php/competitions/2014-15/champions-league-1/cl1-totw-1
