Dempo SC will play host to Shillong Lajong FC in the 2014-15 Hero I-League season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Saturday. The match will be broadcasted live on Ten Action at 16.30 IST.

Dempo have not had the best start to the campaign so far this season of the I-League with four draws and just one win from five matches played and Lajong too have only managed to collect just three points so far from six games. The game promises to be a tight contest at the Fatorda Stadium as both teams need nothing less than three points.

Shillong Lajong have a boost in the defence with the arrival of Minchol Son in Goa. The stalwart North Korean defender is likely to get a start against the Goans and his presence will be add a lot of confidence to Lajong’s backline. The teams’ performance was very poor in their last fixture against Bengaluru and experienced players like Cornell Glen, Penn Orji, Uilliams Silva, Boithang Haokip and Aiborlang Khongjee will have to step up and improve the teams’ display on the pitch.

Speaking to the Lajong media on the eve of the match, SLFC coach Thangboi Singto said, “Dempo will be a tough opponent and we need a good start to the game.”

“We need to start gathering points to take the team to a better position on the table. Minchol has finally joined the team and he will have an important role to play tomorrow.”

According to coach Singto, Dempo has always been a good team and they have a good Indian contingent as well. “To get a point or more, our team should have a winning and positive mentality”, he concluded.

On the other side, Dempo will most likely see the return of Afghan international Zohib Amiri and British defender Callum Angus together with the attacking threat of Carlos Hernandez and Tolgay Ozbey. The Indian contingent of Clifford Miranda and Mandar Desai will also keep the Reds on alert and head coach Arthur Papas will hope to manoeuvre his team to a crucial home victory.

Even though The North Eastern Outfit did a double against the Goans last season, they know what is at stake this season and an away win is much needed. Come this Saturday at 16.30 IST, the Fatorda Stadium will host a tight I-League contest between Dempo SC and Shillong Lajong FC, where three crucial points will be out for grabs.
