Mumbai Rush Soccer Champions League 1 – Week 2

The second instalment of the Mumbai Rush Soccer Champions League 1 tournament – in association with Al Kabeer – took place at St. Pius Sports Ground, Goregaon, and there was a feast of football on show.

Under-10 Category

In the youngest age group, the Red team started the day in much the same manner as they ended the last, Dhruv Pawar scoring a hat-trick in an emphatic 7-0 victory over the yellow team. The Royal Blue’s also made light work of their opening fixture, registering a 5-1 win over their Navy Blue counterparts, Antariksh Rane grabbing a brace to add to goals Anuj Gite, Anas Shaikh and Krishu Rhatvor. In the tightest battle of the morning, neither Green nor Orange team were able to find the back of the net in a hotly contested 0-0 battle.

The second round of U-10 games served up some more even battles, the Red’s only just overcoming the Orange team 1-0, Dhruv Pawar adding to his early morning hat-trick by slotting home the decider. Navy Blue and Yellow played a magnificent, end-to-end, 3-3 game, Hugo King, the age-group top-scorer bagging a hat-trick for the Navy Blue’s to counter goals from Neel Saraf, Samar Pande and Anuj Dalvi. The Green’s and Royal Blues also gave us a tight 1-0 game, Pranav Mungekar getting the deciding goal for the Royal Blue team.

Under-12 Category

The early round of fixtures brought us a 1-0 victory for the Greens, Miraj Solanki grabbing the goal. The King family were at it again, as older brother Louis grabbed two goals in a 3-1 win for the Orange team, over a Yellow side who threatened to make a close contest with a goal from Owais Khan.

In the later fixtures, the Red team, led by a star performance from Shane Aranha, registered a 6-1 victory over the Yellows, Mir Raza, Moksh Surve and Md. Katib all grabbing two goals in the game for the Reds. Louis King added to his morning brace with the only goal for the Oranges in a tight 1-0 win over the Greens.

Under-14 Category

Shvetank Hasal and Karan Prajapat scored a goal apiece for their sides in a tight 1-1 draw between the U-14 Reds and Yellows. In a less tight battle, Royal Blue overcame the Navy Blue side 3-0, Devashish Savant (2 goals) and Ridge D’mello (1 goal) making light work of their opponents. In the game of the round, Green and Orange sides battled through a 4-3 scoreline, the Oranges coming out on top with thanks to four goals by Harshad Dhumale, however it was the performance of Cornelius Rodrigues for the Orange side that stood out to the watching audience.

In the later games, Red defeated Orange 4-1 with goals from Harshvardhan Sharma (2), Shvetank Hasal, and Varshil Tabadiya. Navy Blue and Royal Blue both registered 2-1 victories over Yellow and Green respectively.

Under-17 Category

The elder players didn’t disappoint as they gave us an exciting 5-3 contest between Orange and Yellow, Inzemam Shaikh and Laril Ganjoo both grabbed hat-tricks for their sides but it was Ganjoo’s Oranges who came out on top thanks to additional goals from Sameer Hadkar and Rohan Bijoor. In other games, the two Blue sides, Navy and Royal, served up a 1-1 tie, and the Red team overcame the greens by 2-1 thanks to a brace by Amit Lal.

Rohan Bijoor grabbed the winner in the Oranges second game, however they had goalkeeper, Jaimeen Shah to thank for the close victory, his saves ensuring a 1-0 win. The Yellows were again involved in a goal-fest, this time with the Royal Blues. Krish Shetty’s hat-trick for the Blues helped them on their way to a 6-2 victory in the final game of the day.
