A rampant display by the AIFF U-17 Academy Boys saw them thrash the Dempo SC U-18 team 4-1, on Saturday (April 18, 2015) at Trinity Ground, Benaulim, Goa, in the third match of GFA U-18 League.

On a sweltering hot Saturday evening, the AIFF Academy Boys provided relief for sore eyes as they put on a show to remember in the second half, as both teams held each other in a 1-1 stalemate at half-time.

Prosenjit Chakraborty opened the floodgates for the AIFF U-17 Academy Boys in the 51st minute as an uncanny clearance by Dempo’s backline, following an Anirudh Thapa corner, saw Prosenjit tap home from six yards.

The Academy Boys upped their ante and piled pressure upon their opponents and this paid dividends three minutes later, when Yadav Rahul’s radar spotted a vacant Bedeshwor Singh on the left flank. The former released a well-timed exquisite through ball, while the latter did sheer justice to his chance and blasted the ball into the back of the net.

The Academy Boys put the tie to rest in the 74th minute when Yadav Rahul’s stinger attempt was deflected off Dempo’s defender and saw the light of day.

The 4-1 scoreline stayed the same for the AIFF Academy Boys as they registered an impressive win over their opponents.

The AIFF U-17 Academy Boys clash swords against the Churchill Brothers SC U-18 team next, on April 24, 2015.
