Brazilian side Clube Atlético Paranaense released Indian youngster Romeo Fernandes after three months with the club’s U-23 team.

Romeo was expected to remain with Atlético Paranaense on loan from Dempo SC until the end of June, but the Brazilian side decided to sent back the boy from Goa earlier as the season has ended in Brazil.

Romeo’s only appearance for the club was a 20 minute appearance for a second-string Atlético Paranaense in their Campeonato Paranaense encounter against Nacional Atlético Clube on February 28.

“At the end of the loan period, Atletico Paranaense have released Romeo Fernandes to participate in the Indian Super League (ISL) with FC Goa,” Atlético Paranaense stated in an official release.

“The presence of Romeo in the 2015 ISL will also allow the player to gain greater exposure and increase the chance to get a call-up to India’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers squad.”

“Clube Atlético Paranaense would like to thank Romeo for his time with the ‘Furacão’ and we will continue our project with a focus on the Indian market,” the club concluded.
