Delhi Dynamos FC have announced the appointment of former Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha as their Marquee Manager for Season 2 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).
Roberto Carlos is considered as one of the best left-backs world football has ever seen. The 42 year old Brazilian started his professional career as a player at União São João, before at Palmeiras, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fenerbahçe, Corinthians and Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Brazilian star footballer had a brief spell as interim manager at Anzhi Makhachkala in 2012. He retired as a player in 2012 and started to work as a coach in 2013, when he took over the reigns at Turkish Süper Lig side Sivasspor. Roberto Carlos left the club in December 2014 after a defeat to Istanbul BB.
Roberto Carlos was then appointed head coach of Akhisar Belediyespor in January 2015. He coached the Turkish team for the remainder of the 2014-15 season, before he signed for Al-Arabi of the Qatar Stars League. But the Brazilian didn’t join the Qatari side as the talk broke down.
Roberto Carlos has been capped 125 times by the Brazilian senior national team, while he has won some of the most wanted silverware in world football during his illustrious career. The list included the likes of the FIFA World Cup, Copa América, UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Player of the Year Award, besides many other titles.
The Delhi Dynamos finished 5th in the inaugural season of the Indian Super League under their Dutch coach Harm van Veldhoven and they will be hoping for a better finish under their new manager.
