Goan I-League heavyweights, Sporting Clube de Goa and Salgaocar FC will lock horns in the GFA Charity Cup at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Saturday. The kick-off time is 15.45 IST.

Sporting Goa has bolstered their squad in the summer with talented Goan youngsters and some of them will be on show against Salgaocar.

During the pre-season, Sporting Goa remained unbeaten with victories over the the AIFF Elite Academy, Curtorim Gymkhana, Sporting Clube de Goa U-20 and Vasco Sports Club.

“The GFA charity game is for a good cause and I hope many people turn out to watch the excitement,” stated Sporting Clube de Goa star Odafe Okolie.

Salgaocar put up a splendid performance as they reached the Finals of the Police Cup recently with rising young stars from their Academy.

“It is great to kick-off the league with the charity game. The youngsters will also get another chance to impress,” remarked Salgaocar striker Daryl Duffy.

Both teams will be raring to go and start their season on the right note in what has become known as the traditional curtain raiser for Goan football.
