FC Pune City are currently at the Gloria Sports Arena in Belek, Turkey for their pre-season training ahead of Season 2 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).

The team arrived in Turkey earlier this week and the squad looks sharp as Head Coach David Platt and Assistant Coach Renedy Singh prepare the team for the upcoming season.

The ISL side enjoys the modern sports complex with indoor, outdoor and aquatic sports facilities, built on 105.000 m² (10.5 hectare). Gloria Sports Arena and Belek regularly host professional football teams from around Europe for their pre-season and winter training camps.

Talking about his players, former England international David Platt stated his satisfaction on his squad. “I had heard so much about the so called limitations of the domestic players but none of that was in evidence,” the Head Coach stated on his daily blog on the club’s official Facebook page. “Exceptional work ethic, thirst to improve and learn, technically more than capable, very very pleasantly surprised.”

Platt and his coaching staff conducted several training sessions so far with the focus on football, physical, tactical training and team building.

Former Indian national team star midfielder and new FC Pune City Assistant Coach Renedy Singh did also conduct his first training session on Friday. “After the warm up, Renedy Singh directed his first session as my assistant and he did exceptionally well. He split players into three teams of seven for a mini tournament of games.”

FC Pune City players Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Jackichand Singh and Arindam Bhattacharya will be leaving Belek on Sunday (August 23) to join the Indian national team for international duty.
