NorthEast United FC Head Coach César Farías insisted that his team needed to go out and enjoy the atmosphere instead of feeling the pressure ahead of their first home game against FC Goa today. Addressing the media along with veteran Portuguese midfielder, Silas, the former Venezuelan National team Manager was upbeat about playing in front of 30,000 odd home fans, “The team should go out and enjoy the moment. We have trained hard, we have practised our tactics, we have discussed our strategies and now all that remains is translating that onto the pitch.”

The gaffer also stated that though the squad was littered with injuries at the moment, the morale was still high, “This is football, injuries happen. But, this is a huge opportunity for the Indian boys to step up and prove their mettle. They are hugely talented and can go on to make their impact in this season”.

“Guwahati is my home”, said the 42 year old Head Coach smiling, “I hope that the fans get behind us. I have observed that the players are giving more than 100% in training. They want to right the wrongs and get a win tomorrow. After playing so well and losing against Pune City FC, we are determined to finish our chances when they fall our way this time.”

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers player, Silas echoed the Head Coach’s sentiments, “The team is together and all the boys are working extremely hard. We are happy because we played so well against Pune but are not overjoyed because we lost. We will need to take the positives and this time finish our chances so that we can be overjoyed after we win. We are looking forward to playing in-front of our fans and give them a reason to smile.”

When asked about injuries, the coach revealed some sad news, “Miguel, Kondwani and Sanogo are out for the season. We will reveal a detailed list about the injuries that they suffered.” Marquee Player Simão Sabrosa however is expected to return in a couple of days to bolster the squad.
