The Mumbai FC U-15 team created history as they played their very first U-15 Youth League game and defeated Kenkre FC U-15 2-0 on Saturday. The team coached by Jeddey Almeda put up a good show in their first competitive game of the inaugural 2015-16 season.

The boys showed exceptional composure in the first half as they relentlessly attacked the Kenkre goal, with Kamran looking the most likely to score. Ishan who was captaining Mumbai FC showed great vision as he distributed the ball and kept the game ticking from the midfield. His partner Cilvet played more of a defensive role.

Mumbai kept most of the ball and dominated the corner count too. But the score-line remained 0-0 at half time, with Mumbai being unable to break the deadlock due to poor finishing.

The second half started with Mumbai FC coming out all guns blazing as front man Archie testing the Kenkre FC keeper. It was Mumbai FC’s Kamran who scored in the  64th minute. A defensive free kick landed in the Kenkre box with the on alert Kamran finding the back of the net.

Shreyas replaced Clivert in the 70th minute and made an instant impact. He was now doing the distribution with Ishan sitting back in the middle. Mumbai held most of the ball and the second goal was inevitable. A cross from Akash from the right flank found Shreyas lurking in the box. He made the chance count as  he put the ball in the back of the net in the 84th minute.

Kenkre midfielder Parth Dave received a red card for a vicious foul on Mumbai striker Meet Jain in the 87th minute.

It was safe sailing from then on with Mumbai conducting repeated raids on the Kenkre defense, but still unable to finish. Mumbai were guaranteed three points and a first historic win in the newly founded U-15 Youth League.

Mumbai FC will face PIFA Colaba next on the November 13, 2015 at The Cooperage.
