Mohammedan Sporting aim top spot against Fateh Hyderabad

Mohammedan Sporting Club will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Fateh Hyderabad AFC in their first away game of the ongoing Second Division League at the Lal Bhahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyberabad on Tuesday (December 8).

The Eastern Conference 4th Round tie – Mohammedan did not featured in the 3rd Round – will be a special one for the 124 year old club as it will be the first time when they travel to the newly formed state Telangana for a competitive football match.

Having made their Second Division League debut Fateh Hyderabad witnessed an disappointing campaign so far in the league. Though they drew against Neroca FC in their very first game but since then they have suffered successive defeats from Guwahati FC and Gangtok Himalayan SC. The Yogesh Maurya coached side do not have any foreigners in their roster and it consists moslty of local lads.

“The match against Fateh Hyderabad is an important one for us. It will be our first away game and we know the importance of it, we need to be cautious in our approach,” Mohammedan Sporting head coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. said in the pre-match press conference on Monday.

On the team news front, Bhattacharya included defender Sourav Chakaborty into the matchday squad – as Rana Gharami is out due to personal reasons – along with striker Pritam Singh. However, there are no casualties to deal with.

“Fateh Hyderabad won’t be an easy opponent even though they are at the bottom of the table. They will be looking for points as it is their home game and we know they will come hard at us, so there is no room for complacency and we need to stick to the basics to get the best result,” the coach added further.

The match at Hyberabad will be played under floodlights and kicks off at 19.00 IST.
