Antonio López Habas named new FC Pune City Head Coach

Hero Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Pune City revealed their new Head Coach Antonio López Habas at a press interaction today. Habas will be replacing Englishman David Platt.

The Spaniard was in charge of league rivals Atlético de Kolkata in Season 1 and 2, which did also include a championship winning season in 2014.

“I’m very happy to be here. Thank you,” Habas stated during the unveiling ceremony.

“My philosophy is simple. We have to win. Have a consolidated group, have tactical discipline and be a family,” the 58 year old gaffer told. “We have to have a winning mentality. I have to convince the players immediately that we are going to win.”

“We have retained Arindam (Bhattacharya), Gouramangi (Moirangthem Singh), (Dharmaraj) Ravanan, Lenny (Rodrigues) and Eugeneson (Lyngdoh). And we have signed on four more Indian players.”

“We have to make a team from the start. We are working hard to build a good squad. We are going to make a fantastic team.”

“For me, we need to build a competitive squad not just the marquee but every player in the squad.”

Talking about his decision to join FC Pune City, the Spaniard told, “I chose Pune because I am very happy with our training facilities. You can train 100% and prepare the best for every game.”

“We want your support. I need your support. We need to work together,” Habas signed, while sending out a message to the fans.
