India U-16 boys net half-dozen against GFL Soccer Enterprises

India U-17 national team

The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup bound India U-16 National Team triumphed over GFL Soccer Enterprises by an emphatic scoreline of 6-0 at Duisburg in Germany on Wednesday evening. A second-half brace from Narender and one goal apiece from Komal, Aniket, Saurabh and Gaston were enough to seal the tie in the favour of Nicolai’s wards tonight.

After a cagey start, India finally showed some urgency after 20 minutes and they did not need to wait more for the first goal. Within two minutes of scoring the opener, Komal assisted another to Aniket, who put his name on the score-sheet with much ease.

GFL Soccer Enterprises are a football academy from the USA who are on an exposure trip to Germany. The travelling boys from the USA went haywire and headed to the dressing room with a two-goal deficit.

Amarjit could not hide his frustration on missing a sitter towards the end of the first half. On receiving the ball from the right flank, he outwitted the defender but eventually tumbled to shot it wide.

After the resumption, Nicolai Adam tweaked the team and introduced seven pairs of legs in the likes of Saurabh, Narender, PS Gill, Joysana, Hendry, Gaston and Abhijit.

Within a minute of coming on the pitch, Saurabh tripled the lead from a scintillating cross from Gaston.

Abhijit assisted the next one as Gaston himself netted the fourth for the Indians before the clock ticked even 50 minutes.

The travelling boys from the USA were completely clueless and they couldn’t find the slightest chance in the Indian box to sneak in.

Their misery was still not over as Narender converted from a superb cross by Sanjeev fifteen minutes to the final whistle. He nailed the final one in GFL Enterprise’s coffin, to complete his second-half brace, in the added minutes to leave the ground on a high.

The maverick win will surely help themselves to pull through their performance when they face Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in next three days (August 14).
