The All India Football Federation (AIFF) organised its first ever Grassroots Course in Meghalaya from August 23 to 25, 2016. The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) adopted the AIFF Grassroots Development Programme, and 140 kids participated in the first ever event of its kind held in the Northeastern state.

Meghalaya FA CEO B. Diengdoh was of all plaudits while speaking to AIFF Media regarding this course. He was quoted as saying, “The Course was indeed very beneficial and very helpful to the 30 coaches who attended it.”

He didn’t mince his words either praising All India Football Federation for holding the program in Meghalaya. “We are thankful to the AIFF for adopting Meghalaya F A in the AIFF Grassroots Development Programme and we look forward that the programme will reach the far-flung areas of the State”, he added more.

Meghalaya has no dearth of raw talents and Diengdoh feels this program will act as a catalyst luring more kids towards the beautiful sport of Football, “Grassroots Football is already there in the State especially in Shillong the State Capital where Clubs, academies, Schools with their Touch Line Programme are taking up this programme. However, with the adoption of Meghalaya in the AIFF Grassroots Development programme, we shall put more stress in other Districts also so that this Programme is reached to all.”

He looks forward to hosting more Grassroots programs in future which will only nurture more coaches as well as kids, which will help them attain a newer height in the coming days.

“In the just concluded Course, we could accommodate on 30 Coaches. Other Coaches are also looking forward to getting a chance to attend such Courses. We shall be only too happy to have the next Course depending on the AIFF when to approve such programme”, he concluded on a positive note.
