Raahgiri Day Connaught Place witnessed the first ever celebration of “Football Utsav – Come out & Play” in the history of any sporting event where in the whole of inner circle at Connaught Place was booked by Subroto Cup to promote the 57th edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2016 under #KheloFootball, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the mandate from Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Office.

People reached Connaught Place as early as 6 am to join the celebrations. People participated with full heart in all the activities and rejoiced for the performers. The inner circle at Connaught place had 5 stages representing East, West, South & North India along with a stage that represented rural sports Aao Chale Gaon Ki Aur.

Delhi Salsa Club, Prayas NGO, MERI College, Bhangra Dynasty, Djembefola United, My Way Academy, Zorks (Trinity College), Devender Dance group, Shake Hands, ESCIP Trust gave electrifying performances which kept the crowd on their toes. People cheered the game of Football by roaring Khelo Football throughout the Football Utsav. The football stunts by three school going kids Mohit, Sanjay & Sameer took everyone by surprise. The Football Utsav also witnessed a huge foreign participation.

The two selfie photo contest was a hit amongst the youngsters who participated in large number. The Air India Maharaja was present at various locations and one had to click a pic with him, post it on twitter account and collected their gifts from the Air India counter. Similarly Subroto Cup photo frames were installed at various places wherein the selfie was posted at official Facebook page of Subroto cup and the gifts were announced. Various footballing activities were conducted and merchandise were distributed to the winners and performers.

The crowd never wanted to stop but time norms had to be followed, and the anchors had a difficult time convincing people and made a promise to be back again soon at Raahgiri Day.
