Goa Football Association condole the death of Shashikala Kakodkar

The Goa Football Association (GFA) today condoled the passing away of Smt. Shashikala Kakodkar, ex-Chief Minister of Goa, and one of the staunchest supporters of football in Goa.

“Smt. Shashikala Kakodkar was a lover of football, and carried on the legacy established by her father, Bhausaheb Bandodkar. Her contribution to the development of the game has been immense, and she was a leader who had a special affection for football. She was immensely happy that the Bandodkar Gold had been revived,” said  Elvis Gomes.

Welvin Menezes, Hon. Gen. Secretary of the GFA said, “Ms Kakodkar with her son Sameer was instrumental in reviving the the Bandodkar Gold Trophy, which was kept in the vault until last year. The President and the Executive Committee  of the Goa Football Association join together in expressing our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Smt Kakodkar, on behalf of the entire football fraternity of Goa.”

Many illustrious football players and officials from Goa, also expressed their condolences, and recounted instances of Smt. Kakodkar’s encouragement, support and feedback on the game.
