Sporting Clube de Goa take on rivals Salgaocar FC in a Goa Pro League top of the table clash on Saturday at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa.

Sporting Goa are currently in second spot with 32 points from 14 matches while the current leaders Salgaocar FC are on 33 from same number of matches. The high voltage weekend clash between the two Goan heavyweights is tipped to be a decisive one with the league heading into final phase.

Speaking to the media Sporting Goa head coach Mateus Costa said, “This are essential 3 points, we have to win this to stay in the race.”

When asked about the performance in the previous match Costa said, “We are happy about the result, but we were not up to the mark in the first half. We had a few opportunities where we could have finished the game within the first 30 minutes. The second half we get ourselves together and the score line speaks for itself.”

When quizzed about the time gap for preparation Costa said, “Yes there is very little time for the preparations, but we have to be ready for every situation. This month we are playing a lot of matches and we have to make sure we prevent injuries at such times that will be one of the key deciding factor in how many points we manage by the end.”

Sporting Clube de Goa will be hoping they can carry forward their momentum from the previous win when they face the Green Brigade on Saturday.
