The Salgaocar FC Under-14 boys fought hard to beat a tough Ave Maria side 1-0 at the Navelim Ground to lift the Under-14 South Goa District title.

It was a one sided battle where the Salgaocar juniors kept pushing for a goal. But the Ave Maria custodian stood tall in his goal. Joswel Cardozo tried one from distance, whose shot only managed to rattle the crossbar. Dwayne Neto and Rohan Viegas were a constant threat to the Ave Maria defenders, but the first half ended goalless.

On resumption Salgaocar juniors were at it again trying to break the deadlock, but in vein. Sherwin Abranches struck with a fierce shot, again the keeper saved. It was in the 63rd minute when Dwayne wiggled his way down the flank and gave a pin point ball to Joswel Cardozo who tapped in the only goal for the day and helped Salgaocar FC to be crowned South Goa District Champions.

Salgaocar FC will now face Sao Miguel de Taleigao in the all Goa Under-14 finals.
