Mohammedan Sporting Club have made the biggest move of the summer in the Indian transfer market so far, with the acquisition of recently concluded I-League’s top scorer Aser Dipanda Dicka for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The 28-year-old, who joined Shillong Lajong FC from DSK Shivajians FC ahead of 2016/17 I-League, did not only finish as the I-League top scorer with 11 goals in 17 matches but was also adjudged as the best striker of the season.

Mohammedan Sporting had been trying to rope in the Cameroonian frontman for past couple of months, and Mohammedan Sporting Club general secretary Ghazal uz Zafar, Team Manager Belal Ahmed Khan and Chairman of Technical Committee Dipendu Biswas even traveled to Shillong during the I-League finale between Shillong Lajong FC and Aizawl FC to materialize the deal.

Mr. Zafar talking about the new signing, said, “We are happy to have signed a player of Dipanda’s stature. He is a proven talent and he has plenty of top level experience. I am confident that he will be an asset to the squad in the upcoming season. I wish him all the best of luck for the season.”

Mr. Khan said, “We are delighted to have Dipanda on-board. He is an incredibly talented player who has valuable experience of playing for some of the top clubs in India. We needed someone of his calibre in upfront.”

Dipanda spent the majority of his career from 2008 to 2014 playing in Spain with Valencia B, La Roda, Olímpic de Xàtiva and UD Alzira.

He then moved to India and joined DSK Shivajians FC in the I-League 2015-16 season where he scored seven goals for the Pune-based club in I-League.
