Draw held for SAFF U-15 Championship and SAFF U-18 Championship

The draw for the upcoming SAFF U-15 Championship and SAFF U-18 Championship was held yesterday at the Bangladesh Football Federation House in Dhaka.

The SAFF U-15 Championship would be played from August 18 to 27 in Kathmandu, Nepal with defending champions Bangladesh drawn in Group A alongwise Bhutan and Sri Lanka; while runners-up India headline Group B alongside hosts Nepal and the Maldives.

The SAFF U-18 Championship would be played from September 18 to 27 in Thimphu, Bhutan with runners-up India drawn in Group A along with Bangladesh and hosts Bhutan; while Group B would feature champions Nepal, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Missing from both the SAFF U-15 Championship and SAFF U-18 Championship are Pakistan due to problems within the Pakistan Football Federation.

The South Asian Football Federation, which has its headquarters at BFF House, under the recommendation of the Asian Football Confederation had decided to make the U-16 and U-19 tournaments to U-15 and U-18 competitions to prepare the south Asian nations for the respective AFC U-16 and U-19 Championship qualifiers.
