After talks with numerous potential managers, Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC yesterday announced the signing of Dutchman René Meulensteen as their new head coach going into ISL-4.

Kerala Blasters CEO Varun Tripuraneni finalised the deal with Rene Meulensteen in London to bring the seasoned coached to India.

53 year old Beugen-born Meulensteen is best known for his time as assistant coach at Manchester United besides having had other roles with the Red Devils spending more than 10 years at the EPL giants.

Meulensteen has coached in Europe and Asia, and will now have to fill the big shoes left by Steve Coppell, who took the Blasters to the final of ISL-3 despite not having the best of sides.

The Kerala Blasters supporters are the noisiest and most passionate of fans, but they also expect a lot from their team and manager.
