India U-17 team thump seven goals past Tata Football Academy U-17 team

The India U-17 national team defeated the Tata Football Academy’s U-17 team 7-0 in a friendly match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Capital today.

The Indian colts spared no time in formalities and took the lead as early as the 3rd minute when Rahim Ali slotted home with ease after Hendry released him onto goal with a clever long ball leaving the TFA defence in shambles.

In the 13th minute, Ali scored again after he made the most of a one versus one situation against the TFA custodian and slotted past him to double India’s advantage over their rivals. The Indian colts extended the goal difference between the two teams and scored in the 39th minute to triple the lead.

Komal Thatal capitalized on a defensive howler and scored in the dying embers of the first half as the half-time scoreline read 4-0 in favour of the Indian colts.

In the second half, Rahul KP’s strikes in the 53rd and the 55th minute further extended India’s lead and put secured the result for the colts as the scoreline read 6-0. Shubham Sarangi scored in the 83rd minute to make it 7-0 after he latched onto a cross and blasted the ball home. The full-time scoreline read the same as India trotted to an easy win.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 bound team will be travelling next to Mexico as part of an exposure trip to participate in a tournament featuring Colombia, Chile, and Mexico.
