The Goa Football Association 2017-18 Season officially begins from September 9 (Saturday) as the Third Division League kicks-off in Salcete.

While the Champions Trophy Charity Match marked the curtain raiser for the GFA Season with Salgaocar FC clinching the title with an easy win over FC Bardez, the GFA’s league officially begins on Saturday with their Third Division League.

Altogether 28 teams are participating in the Salcete Zone with Carmona Sports Club clashing with Margao Sports Club at Cavelossim ground in the their Group C encounter.

Elsewhere, Chandor Club travel to Curtorim ground as they play Sao Jose de Areal SC in their Group D clash.

The teams are divided in four groups as the top two teams from each group will qualify for the play-off.

Speaking on the occasion, GFA General Secretary said, “We begin with the Goa Football Association’s League season from Saturday. The Third Division league is a most accommodated league as around 70 clubs ply their trade here in the various zones. We have 28 teams from Salcete itself.”

“We wish all the teams good luck ahead of the new season as we look for a competitive season,” he exclaimed.

Around 25 teams are participating in the Bardez zone. The teams are potted in four groups and will begin their campaign from September 10. Cunchelim Sports Club will take on Vailankanni FSC in their Group A clash at Chapora ground. Ilhas Zone matches will begin later.
