Latif scores twice as Dando Boys down United Club of Benaulim

Dando Boys Club Benaulim blanked United Club of Benaulim 3-0 in the Goa Football Association (GFA) Third Division League played at Dando ground Benaulim, on Monday.

Dinimark D’Souza 27′ first half strike and Latif Shaikh’s 72′, 80′ brace in the second half helped Dando Boys down UC Benaulim.

Vellesly Afonso in the midfield and Velington Rodrigues in the flank combined well for UC Benaulim the defence marshalled by Keagan Rodrigues, Rody Fernandes and Jovran Fernandes defended brilliantly and kept a constant check on the offside often trapping the rivals.

At the other end, playmaker Lenster Fernandes in the mid constantly supplied the ball to the strikers while wingers Dinimerk Dsouza and Dalan Rodrigues pressurised the rival defence and created a series of chances.

With both the teams trying to get the ball into the nets however Dando Boys were the first to triumph as winger Dinimark headed the ball home.

Dalan Rodrigues sent in a beautiful cross to Dinimark who made no mistake to head the ball at the back of the nets.

Post resumption, Dando boys created yet another chance through Joel Lobo and Latif Shaikh combination play the latter passed the ball to Maverich the strike shot towards the goal but to his dismay the rival defender Keagan made a a goal line clearance to keep his team in the game.

Latif Shaikh scored the second for Dando Boys with a half volley finish midway through the second half as UC Telaulim played 10-man with no substitute on the bench to replace injured Jovran Fernandes.

UC Benaulim trailing by two goals went all out to try and find the ball at the back of the rival nets but the team lost possession and the rivals attacked through a counter through a combination move by Substitute Bloyns and Latif Shaik but the latter shot wide keeping UC Benaulim in pursuit of an equaliser.

Latif drove the final nail into the coffin after a defensive error by the UC Benaulim side.

In another match at Curtorim ground, Fr. Agnelo YSC thrashed St. Anthony SC Assolda 6-0. Avon Fernandes scored a brace while Kanchan Kiro, Sezvino Fernandes, Mackroy Limo and Joel Furtado scored a goal each for the winners to complete the rout of St Anthony SC Assolda.

Elsewhere at Raia ground, Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club and SCC Loutolim played out a goalless draw.
