Bayern Munich to host Borussia Dortmund in DFB-Pokal Round of 16 top clash

The draw for the Round of 16 of the 2017/18 DFB-Pokal (German Cup) was held at the Deutsches Fußballmuseum in Dortmund on Sunday evening. The draw was carried out by former Germany international Stefan Effenberg, while DFB (German FA) vice-president Peter Frymuth was in charge of the draw procedures. The draw ceremony was broadcasted live on German national tv channel ARD in their show Sportschau with Julia Scharf hosting the broadcast.

Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich will play host to defending DFB-Pokal champions Borussia Dortmund in the top clash of the Men’s Round of 16 at the Allianz Arena. Last year’s runners-up Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to Bundeliga 2 side 1. FC Heidenheim, while the only remaining 3rd Division club SC Paderborn will try to pull another surprise against FC Ingolstadt.

Meanwhile, Women’s DFB-Pokal champions VfL Wolfsburg hope to keep their title hopes alive against BV Cloppenburg in the Women’s Round of 16. Women’s Bundesliga 2 side Arminia Bielefeld will face an uphill task against 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, while SV Meppen look forward to their match against a star-studded Bayern Munich Women’s team.

The Men’s DFB-Pokal Round of 16 matches will be played on December 19 and 20. The Women’s DFB-Pokal Round of 16 matches have been scheduled for December 2 and 3.
